Having a new baby can be one of the most exciting times in your life, but also one of the most challenging. The addition of a new person into your family, bringing with it new responsibilities, roles and relationships means a great deal of change.
This journal allows you to easily record and track this exciting period of change over the course of pregnancy, parental leave and your return to work. By tracking your experiences throughout this period, we can begin to understand and explore ideas, thoughts and feelings associated with the journey to parenthood.
Research has shown that journaling your experiences can be a useful tool to help you reflect. You can benefit from an increased awareness and understanding of your own (perhaps changing) thoughts and feelings during this period, thinking about why you feel this way, what works well or not so well, and how particular experiences and decisions make you feel over time.
Features:
Use text and/or audio functions to keep notes about your daily experiences, thoughts, feelings and decisions.
Add photos to your journal entries to bring memories to life.
Keep track of your daily feelings over time using a quick, easy to use ‘current feeling input’ option (swipe up and down to select the face that best fits your current mood).
Easily review the daily log of your experiences, thoughts and feelings from the moment you started using the App until the present day.
For this app to be most effective, try to record experiences, thoughts and feelings as soon after they occur as possible and the more detail you record the better! For times when this is difficult you can use the quick ‘current feeling log’ option to record how you feel at that point in time with one swipe. You can then go back and record more detail later.
The data collected through this App will be anonymised and used in an ongoing research project, to develop a greater understanding of how parents can be more effectively supported during this transition. More information will be emailed to you once you register. All information provided will be strictly confidential and you are free to stop using the app at any time.
